The First Nishan World Women’s Forum soon to be held in Shandong
The First Nishan World Women’s Forum （NWWF）is to be held on November 16th and 17th, 2006 in Nishan, Qufu Municipality, Shandong Province, the hometown of the great ancient Chinese ideologist and educator Confucius.
Initiated and promoted by Mr. Xu Jialu, former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, the NWWF constitutes an indispensable part of the Nishan Forum on World Civilizations.
The main theme of the NWWF is “Women with Sustainable Development of Mankind” with four sub-themes:
1) Gender Equality and Sustainable Development；
2) Women with Healthy Lifestyle；
3) Women with Social Welfare；
4) Women with Cultural Heritage.
According to the NWWF Organizing Committee, Mrs. Liu Chuansheng, Party-Secretary of Beijing Normal University and Vice President of the Nishan Forum on World Civilizations will assume the position as NWWF President; Mrs. Zhang Youyun, former and first Director of the Gender Equality Bureau of the International Labor Organization, together with Mrs. Lu Hailin, former President of the Women’s International Forum were appointed as NWWF Vice Presidents; and the position of Secretary-General was taken by Mrs. Zhang Xiao’an, former Vice President of the United Nations Association of China. The NWWF Secretariat, an executive body for the forum, has been established with Mrs. Zhang Yinjun, President of Beijing Youth Love Education Foundation, as Executive President. The Secretariat is located in Beijing with Ms. Yu Siqun and Ms. Gu Mohan as the major contacters .
The NWWF aims to establish a humanistic platform for coordinating women’s efforts in the realization of UN’s2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
